Dunagiri Retreat – Day 1

What a glorious morning!

Despite waking up a little “late” (a bit past 7am, when morning meditation was scheduled to begin), I felt so refreshed and rejuvenated by the restful and much needed sleep on my first night at Dunagiri Retreat. After moving quickly to get dressed and walk over to the temple for meditation, I was immediately greeted by a stunning view from our private patio…

Today our “theme” for yoga and meditation focuses on the first / root chakra, Muladhara. The color is red, the element is earth, and the seed sound is “LAM.” This chakra is all about grounding, finding your roots, your connection to the earth. What a perfect way to settle in to our new surroundings. One of the easiest ways for me to connect with this chakra and ground myself is to literally sit on the ground or walk barefoot. Feeling the temperature and textures of the ground awakens and stimulates my senses. Planting myself in the firm soil allows my body to feel completely safe and supported, which allows my mind to become more aware and present and relaxed. LAM…

After our morning meditation, we had some time to explore. The Dunagiri Retreat was bursting with life and color and beauty. I felt right at home, and once again, so grateful for this experience…
